Option for the Poor
Christmas Fair - Supporting Saint Mungo's
We are happy to announce success of our recent school fair, where the school community came together to support Saint Mungo's Homeless Charity. Thanks to the hard work and creativity of our students, who crafted beautiful bracelets, sold cherished old toys, and offered delectable cupcakes and festive decorations, we were able to raise a significant amount of money for this noble cause. Special recognition goes to our dedicated Mini Vinnies group, whose leadership played a pivotal role in driving this charitable initiative. Their commitment and passion have truly made a positive impact on the lives of those less fortunate in our community.
Christmas Jumper Day - Save The Children (7th December2023)
Thank you to everyone who took part and donated towards the Save the Children Christmas Jumper Day. Our Lady of Lourdes raised £114.00 through donations made directly on the Just Giving Page and a further £68 cash donations sent into the school making a total of £182. Thank you for your generosity in helping to look after children across the globe.
Christmas Fair - December 2023
Get ready for a festive celebration at our school's Christmas fair on December 8th! Our compassionate and creative students have been hard at works. Children are channeling their artistic talents into creating beautiful bracelets, baking delicious cupcakes, and decorating their own Christmas ornaments. These handmade treasures will be available for purchase, with all proceeds going to support Saint Mungo's Homeless Charity. Join us in spreading holiday cheer while contributing to a meaningful cause. It's a fantastic opportunity to enjoy the spirit of giving and celebrate the season with joy and purpose!
Advent (2023) Giving Calendar
Caritas shared an ‘Advent Giving Calendar’ with our school. This calendar, which can also be found in the school newsletter, follows the concept of a ‘reverse’ Advent Calendar and gives suggestions for items to collect each day to donate to a local foodbank or food poverty project of your choice in time for Christmas.
The calendar provides suggestions of items to collect and information on how you as a family can find a project to donate to. As you are aware, at Our Lady of Lourdes, we collected donations for the SUFRA as part of our Harvest celebrations.
The calendar is also a way for our families to find out where you can get some help if you are struggling to buy the food you need. This information is on the back of the calendar, hence us displaying both sides and it is repeated below for ease of reference. Remember that you can always come and talk to us at school and we will help in any way we can.
The ‘Advent Giving Calendar’ is a great opportunity for the wider school community to get involved in social action.
If you do participate, please send any pictures of your donations or volunteer work to admin@lourdes.brent.sch.uk.
Thank you, as always, for your support.

Harvest Collection (October 2023)
As the leaves turn golden and the air becomes crisp, it's that time of year again – the Harvest Festival! Our school community is dedicated to nurturing not only the minds but also the hearts of our students. One way we do that is by instilling the virtues of gratitude, kindness, and generosity. As we have done in previous years, we will be collecting non-perishable food items and other essentials for the upcoming Harvest Festival . This tradition allows us to come together as a school community and make a difference in the lives of those who may be in need.
Here's how you can contribute:
Donations: Please consider donating non-perishable food items, canned goods, toiletries, and other essential items.
The collection will take place from 20th September to the 14th October. Please make sure to drop off your donations by Friday 14th October so that we can ensure they reach those in need in time for the festival. Your generosity and support is appreciated, and they set a beautiful example to children.
