Ethos

Our school Mission Statement was devised by pupils, parents, staff and governors to summarise the key purpose of our school. Our Mission Statement is a reflection that Religious Education is at the core of the entire educational process. Through Religious Education, we teach the virtues that unify our curriculum with our Mission Statement. We celebrate our Catholic Identify across all areas of the curriculum and within each school day.

Programme of Study 
The 'Margaret Carswell Units of Work' are currently used throughout the school. Emphasis is given to the Church's Liturgical Year and the programme is taught in a three-year cycle. The content of this model offers a systematic programme of study which comprehensively covers all the strands and requirements of the Curriculum Directory.  Each topic plan ensures progression and depth. Parents are kept informed about what the children are learning via our curriculum overviews- which can be found on each class page. 

Parish/ Parental Links

At Our Lady of Lourdes, we recognise that the journey of Religious Education begins at home and is continually fostered and developed. Parents are an integral part of a child's religious and spiritual development.  The school works in partnership with parents and parish to enrich the lives of our children. Parents are provided with programmes to be used in the preparation for the Sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion.

Through active participation in the mass and sacraments, children are given the opportunity to foster their developing relationship with Jesus.

Other Faiths

In addition to studying the Life and Teachings of Jesus, children study a variety of World Faiths.  This enables our children to understand more about the larger community outside home and school.
