St Peter - Year 1
Week 1 (Tuesday 6/1 - Friday 9/1)
Dear parents and carers,
We have had a busy first week back!
Year one has been working hard and more importantly, working together!
In maths we have been reviewing our number bonds to ten, and starting to look at modelling numbers to 20 using 'tens' and 'ones.'
We have been using our blocks to model this number and ensure we are confident in these areas.
In English we have started our new story, 'The Adventures of Egg Box Dragon!' Here, we have been working on retelling the story and forming opinions.
In RE we have learnt about the 'Epiphany.'
Year one has practiced the retelling of this story through some wonderful role play! Here, we have also been discussing why each and every one of us are special to God.
In Science we are looking at Polar Places! Year one are learning that London isn't nearly as cold as some of the places we will look into this term!
In History we have started our topic on castles! This week we got to build are own castles after seeing some cool pictures of castles in the UK!
This will also be the topic of our assembly that is coming up in early February.
In Art we have learnt about primary and secondary colours - including how to mix them!
Take a look at some photos of our awesome work!
Have an excellent weekend.
I'm sure year one are looking forward to another week of busy!
Kind regards,
Miss Tonner

Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome back to our Spring Term.
We hope you all had a wonderful break!
Miss Duncan and I are so excited for Year One to get back into their learning.
Year One has some exciting focuses this term, which can be found under 'SPRING' in our curriculum overview.
Below, you will also find a super list of recommended reads and our weekly time table.
Thank you for your continued support and I look forward to an exciting term!
Kind regards,
Miss Tonner
Welcome to Year One!
I am delighted to be teaching Year One this year. The start of Key Stage One will build on previous learning from pupils' time in EYFS. Our lessons will include hands-on, fun learning experiences and will prepare pupils for their on-going journey through school.
I am joined by Miss Duncan, who will be working along side me to support the class.
