Welcome to the Summer Term!
We are thrilled to welcome back all of our Year 4 pupils! We hope you had a relaxing and enjoyable break, and are now ready to dive into an exciting summer term filled with learning, fun, and growth.
The summer term is always a special one. With longer days and hopefully plenty of sunshine, there’s so much to look forward to. From outdoor learning opportunities and new topics to creative projects and end-of-year celebrations, it’s going to be a busy and exciting few months!
We are eager to see how much the children continue to grow, discover, and accomplish. As always, we will be supporting their curiosity, boosting their confidence, and celebrating their achievements, big and small, along the way.
Here’s to a bright, successful, and memorable summer term ahead!
Thank you,

Pope Francis Jubilee 2025 – Pilgrims of Hope
As part of the celebrations for Pope Francis' Jubilee 2025, the theme for this year is ‘Pilgrims of Hope’. In light of the challenges facing the world today, such as the impacts of war, the ongoing effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, and the climate crisis, we are inspired to take an action by showing hope and solidarity.
In line with this, each class at Our Lady of Lourdes is choosing a charity to support throughout the year.
Our Year 4 class has chosen to support The British Heart Foundation, a charity that is dedicated to minimising the risks of cardiovascular and circulatory illnesses for all people.
Throughout the year, we will:
- Raise awareness about the charity.
- Organise fundraising activities to support its work.
We encourage you to visit our class webpage for updates on our activities and progress. We deeply appreciate your continued support as we work together to make a meaningful difference this year.
Thank you for your support of our Jubilee 2025 Pilgrims of Hope Charity Drive!

This week, as part of our school’s 50th birthday celebration, our class took a trip back to the 2000s! We dressed up in classic 2000s fashion, explored popular games from that time, created a Facebook profile page like people did when social media was just beginning, and dove into the music that defined the decade. It was a fun and interactive way to celebrate our school’s milestone while learning about life in the early 2000s
Catholic Social Teaching - The Common Good- 16th October 2024

Black History Month - 11th October 2024
This month, we have been learning about famous Black artists. One of the artists we've focused on is Jean-Michel Basquiat, known for his bold, expressive style using vibrant colours and graffiti-like symbols. We created our own artwork inspired by Basquiat, blending abstract shapes, symbols, and bright colours, just like he did. Here are some examples of our fantastic creations!
Westminster Abbey - 2nd October
This week, Year 4 had an exciting trip to Westminster Abbey! We explored the Abbey’s amazing history and learned all about Edward the Confessor, one of the last Anglo-Saxon kings of England, who actually built the original Abbey. The trip gave everyone a real sense of the past as they walked through the stunning building and discovered the resting places of important historical figures. It was a great way to bring our history lessons to life in a fun and memorable way.
Maths - 25th September 2024
This week, we’ve been learning how to round numbers to the nearest 10. To help us understand it better, we created a large number line from 0 to 100 in the hall. We had lots of fun identifying which multiple of 10 each number was closest to. By looking at the position of each number on the line, we could easily see which multiple of 10 it was closer to.
This week, we explored the world of the Normans by creating our very own Norman shields! Using cardboard, paint, and a lot of creativity, we shields inspired by historical patterns and symbols.
