St Bernadette - Reception
Hello to you all,
We have had a fantastic week in Reception! The children have been exploring developing their understanding of the changes around them and exploring the wonderful season of Autumn and the differences that we can see and those we might not be able to notice as easily! The children have had so much fun with their reading and writing this week along with their number skills.
We have been working on our sounds through the week. We have been sounding and along with ‘Fred’ our phonics frog been looking at the sound’s ‘x’, ‘z and ‘sh’.
This weekend I would love for you and your children to go and find something that starts with the ‘sh’ sound it can either be at the front of the word or at the end, then on Monday you can bring it in and we can talk about what you’ve brought in as we will be learning all about that sound! Thank you to those parents who have brought in items this week we had a lovely time showing them to the class.
We have been working on our number bonds this week as well as introducing the ideas of patterns. The children have been thinking, talking and creating different types of patterns in class. Looking at how we can create patterns using ourselves and what we have around us to extend our learning has
We have been getting the children to express their ideas and creativity through different artistic activities this week. The children have created their own hedgehogs using leaves along with pastels to make their colourful autumn leaves. As October is Black History Month we have been introduced to the children some amazing individuals – Alma Thomas, Marcus Rashford and Mae Jamison!
Over the weekend I would like you to find something you like doing during autumn or winter and either draw a picture or write a short sentence.
Have a lovely weekend and I look forward to another fun and exciting week!
Kind regards,
Mr Malone

Who is in your families and how all families are different in their own ways. There will be a letter in your child’s bag regarding whether you would like to send in a family picture as part of this topic to be used as part of our display.

Welcome to Reception – Our First Week!
We have had such a wonderful week to start the year off! The children have settled in so well and have already found their places in the classroom. It has been wonderful to see the children building and developing their friendships and showing their interests.
The children have been busy exploring the new classroom and garden to see where they can find ways to explore their thoughts and ideas! We have been introducing our morning phonics to the children as one of our focuses this week alongside our mathematics.
They have settled back into the routines after the long break so well and taken pride in being special helpers around the class.
We are all looking forward to the year ahead after such a wonderful week
