Hello and welcome back to a brand new school year! I am Miss Beaney and I will be teaching you this year alongside Ms John and Miss Corcoran. We are very excited to be welcoming you into Year 1 and teaching you a lot of interesting things and seeing you flourish in all aspects of your school life. We hope you enjoy your time with us.

Homework Monday 15th November - 19th November
Today we learnt about Remembrance Day and why we celebrate it. We did some activities such as making poppies, word searches, colouring in poppies and designing medals.
Today, we listened to a talk about Pets. We learnt how to look after animals and also about recycling.
Today in our Maths less we went outside to the number grid in the playground. Several numbers were covered with boxes and we had to identify what numbers were hidden. We then wrote the numbers on the ground with chalk.
In our Science lesson today, we were looking at what types of food animals eat. We learnt that animals are grouped into three different groups: carnivore, herbivore and omnivore, depending on what they eat, Our task was to sort the animal cards into the different groups.
This week, we started the book 'Beegu' in our Literacy lessons. We did a hot seat today where children acted as Beegu and asked questions such as 'Where did you come from?' and 'What happened to your spaceship?'
Our PE lesson focus this term is Dance. In this lesson, we danced like trees in the wind. We also focused on different types of weathers and how they could be performed as a dance.
In Music, we have been learning about pulse and rhythm. We used different instruments to play rhythms, which we used to greet one another.
