The Easter Holidays have finally arrived. Please use this time to relax and enjoy some fun activities at home with your family. I hope you are all keeping safe and enjoying your time at home with family. We miss you lots and are all looking forward to the time we will be able to return to school and continue to have fun learning :) I hope you are trying your best at home and are listening to mummies, daddies and anyone else who is looking after you.

Please make use of the Twinkl website and use the 'Home Learning Hub' section. Here you will find lots of links to Phonics lessons, Maths lessons and Story - Time.
Please find additional resources you can complete with your child above. I will regularly update this section with different worksheets and resources I find that may be useful. Please continue to log into Purple Mash and MyMaths where I have work set and will continue to set work over the coming weeks. As always, the websites that are attached above, and on the letter I sent home before the school closure, will provide plenty of additional activities you can complete with your child.
For World Book Day Year 5 came and visited us. They also read us lots of stories which we loved.
World Book Day
There was lots of excitement in Year One today as we celebrated World Book Day. All the children came in dressed in fantastic costumes.
World Book Day Preparation
Today Year One were visited by Page Turner who needed their help to save her bookshop. The children discussed characters from a range of books and created objects from stories using their bodies.
Figure it out Friday
Today in class we created as many number sentences as we could to reach the answer eight. This included addition and subtraction number sentences.
First Aid Training
Today Year One took part in First Aid training. We learned how to give CPR, what number to call if something happens and there is no adult present and how to treat bumps and burns.
This week in IPC we were learning about balance and movements used in circus performances. In our groups we had to create a performance piece to show the rest of the class using balance.
The Epiphany
Year 1 have been learning about the Epiphany from the Gospel of Matthew. We acted out the story in class and had great fun playing the magi, Herod and Mary and Joseph.
New Building
Today we were very lucky to get to visit our brand new classroom. All the children were very excited to see where we will be moving to and all the lovely new space we will have.
Hello and welcome back to a new school year in Our Lady of Lourdes. I am very excited to be teaching Year One this year and I have lots of exciting activities planned. Looking forward to getting to know you all over the coming weeks.
The children have been busy making plenty of Christmas crafts this week in preparation for the upcoming Christmas holidays.
We had a very excited Year One class as we had our annual Christmas dinner today. The children made Christmas hats to wear to dinner and even enjoyed a visit from Santa Claus.
Nativity Preparation
The children are getting very excited about the upcoming Christmas Nativity. There has been plenty of practice in preparation for it and they cannot wait to put on what will be a fantastic performance for friends and family.
Maths
This week we have been learning how to count one and two more or less than any number to twenty. Today we looked at odd and even numbers and the patterns when you count one more or less than an odd or even number and two more or less than an odd or even number.
Where the Wild Things Are
Today we had an exciting visitor come to the school to help us learn all about our new book 'Where the Wild Things Are.' We played games, did drama and took part in the story by creating soundscapes to add to the atmosphere of a story. We all had a really fun morning learning.
Remembrance Day
We made poppies in class to celebrate Remembrance Day. We used crepe paper and paint to create different types of poppies. We also discussed the importance of Remembrance Day, why we wear poppies and why we mark the occasion every year with a two minute silence.
IPC Toys
This week we brought in our favourite toys to show and share with our classmates. This was a fun way to introduce our new IPC topic 'The Magic Toymaker'.
Year 1 and 2 Trip to the Synagogue
Yesterday, Year 1 and 2 went on a trip to Wembley United Synagogue. They were greeted by the Rabbi and he showed them all the signs and symbols associated with Judaism. The children were allowed to see the Torah (the Jewish holy book) and the ark (where the Torah scrolls are kept) Everyone was very impressed at how respectful all children were and how well - mannered and well - behaved Our Lady of Lourdes children are. Everyone had a lovely afternoon.
Brother David
Every two weeks we are visited by Brother David who teaches us lots of things about the Catholic religion. This week he showed us rosary beads and explained why people pray the rosary. We also began to learn a new hymn called 'Immaculate Mary'.
Cultural Assembly Artwork
Today we were creating African prints and patterns in preparation for our cultural assembly next week.
Maths
This week we were learning to count in 10s. We counted in 10s from 0 - 100. After that, we began to count on 10 from any number between 1-100.
