Welcome to Year 2!


My name is Miss Ameen and working alongside me in Year 2 are 

Ms Duncan and Mrs Sumney.



The children made their paper planes and used them to get through an obstacle race. Gregory really helped out when making them. Well done Gregory!

The children have been identifying physical and human features in different parts of the world.

The children have been working on a Science project to investigate the suitability of different materials.

The children were fantastic during Sports Day! Well done to the winners and the rest of you that participated! You made us proud!

Last week the children lead a wonderful Liturgy. Well done Year 2!

The children have been learning and acting out the story in St Mark's Gospel about the Call Story!

The children have been using number lines to take away 2-digit numbers from 100.

The children have been using iPADs to learn about the 7 continents and 5 oceans during IPC.

Today the children had an African workshop. They pretended they were in the jungle and tried to find crocodiles and run away from monkeys!

The children had a wonderful time learning about plants when we went to Kew Gardens! Check out the big catfish we saw :D

The children have been using exceptional mental maths strategies to work out their number sentences. They have made us all so proud! Well done YEAR 2!!

The children have been looking at seeds under a microscope. They also dissected it and looked at the different parts.

The children have been learning about growing plants. They have been observing flowers using simple equipment.

The children have been learning about God's merciful love with Brother Alejandro. They were drawing Jesus with open arms, showing His love for each one of them.

The children have been using great vocabulary to describe paintings in Literacy.

Children have been painting their own nature settings. The end results will be uploaded soon ;). The children behaved beautifully during their Art lesson.

The children have been exploring different aspects about the disciples after Jesus' Resurrection and up until Pentecost. They did some fantastic acting this week!

Last week the children were learning how to find the missing number using the inverse method and counting on.

The children were enjoying their phonics lesson out in the sun!



The children had a great time on the trip!

The children have been working hard learning how to add and subtract my drawing a number line themselves. They have been exploring lots of ways to work calculations out.

The children looked absolutely fabulous in their Easter bonnets! Well done for all your efforts!

Last week, we had some fun learning adverbs. The children were acting out verbs and the children had the guess the adverb.

This week, the children have been learning how to communicate different feelings through art in IPC

The children had to build a bridge as a team for their science challenge. They had to make it higher than 10cm with two towers on the side. The bridge had to stand for more than 10 seconds. Many groups were successful!

During World Book Day, the Year 5s came to our classroom to read with our children.

Last week the children came to school wearing a character's costume for World Book Day!

This week, Year 2 have been covering fractions of shapes. We made pizzas to extend the children's concept of quarters and halves etc. They tasted delicious!

The children have done some story maps to prepare for their newspaper reports.

The children have also been learning how to structure newspaper articles and identify their features.

This week the children have been doing multiplication. They worked so hard and did so well! Well done Year 2! Check out their work.

Here are the children's adapted story maps. They then wrote their own poems using the adaptations.

The children have now adapted the story of Room on the Broom with their own 3 characters that replaced the cat, witch and the dog. They also chose an object instead of the broom. They came up with some great ideas and changed the poem to their own. They presented their adapted poems to the class.

This week we have been covering the story of the Passover in R.E. Here are some images.

This week, we have been focusing on the book by Julia Donaldson 'Room on the Broom'. The children were doing some role play...

This half term our author focus in Literacy will be Julia Donaldson. The children have been learning the story about the Room on the Broom.

The children have been looking at food hygiene and planning balanced diets. They made posters giving Food Hygiene Advice and planned a balanced meal following the food pyramid.

At the end of 2017, the children made their own toys! DIY! Well done St Paul's!

Yesterday, Year 2 and Year 1 went on a school trip to Brent Library. The children had a fantastic time and were so well behaved! WELL DONE ST PAUL'S!

This week, the children have been learning how to get ready for prayer. The children, independently, used resources to create a calm classroom environment for us to prepare our minds when talking to God.

This week Year 2 learned how to structure invitations. We wrote invitations to the Year 1 class to come and read with us on Friday afternoon! This is what happened..

The children had a visit from the fire fighters. The children sported some great fire fighter gear!

This week Year 2 have been using ICT to make learning more fun in Guided Reading, Literacy and Maths.

The children have been learning how to write instructions. We have been focusing on the island of Malta this week and the children learned how to write instructions to make a traditional Maltese sandwich (Hobz biz-zejt)
