Hello Year 2! We hope you and your families are all well and have had a fantastic half term! We hope you are ready to get back to work this week. Remember, any work that is set can be done on your own piece of paper or typed directly onto the document if you are unable to print! Also, please don’t panic if you find anything tricky or if you are unable to complete all of the work. Science Week
We had a great start to Science Week, we have carried out two investigations, one testing different materials that would be suitable as a thermal insulator in the Antarctica. We put warm water in containers and covered it with different materials in the freezer.
The second investigation we did was testing which materials were waterproof. We then investigated if we added wax crayon would it make a difference and make it waterproof.

In Science we got to make food for birds, we put it outside to see how long it would take for the birds to eat it.
We are excited to see which one of ours is eaten first. We used bird seeds, raisins and lard. We had lots of fun making bird food for the birds.

Religious Studies
This week in RE, we have been learning about Judaism. We went on a trip to visit the Synagogue. The children had lots of fun looking at Torahs and learning about the content in the Torah. The children learnt the stories were similar to the Bible.
The teachers were impressed with our knowledge about the Synagogue.
IPC
We had fun asking some of the staff questions about their roles in the school. They told us what they enjoyed doing the most and why they chose to work in a school.
Everyone said they liked working at Our Lady of Lourdes.

IPC Entry Point
We had fun last week dressing up as what we would want to be older. We dressed as doctors, nurses, lawyers, teachers and many other professions. We really enjoyed dressing up.
Drama
In literacy we have been reading a book called Amazing Grace. In the story Grace likes to use her imagination and act out different characters. We enjoyed acting out the different characters pretended to be by Grace. We were doctors, patients, Joan of Arc, pirates, spiders and horses. We loved acting out the different characters Grace played.
Hello and welcome back to a new school year at Our Lady of Lourdes. My name is Miss Patel and I will be teaching Year 2 with Ms Duncan. We are really excited to have your children in our class and have heaps planned for the academic year.
We are really looking forward to getting to know you and the pupils in the near future.
