Welcome to the Reception Class page. My name is Miss Obilaso and working alongside me this year are Mrs Manesh and Mrs Monica. We look forward to working with your children and watching them grow in confidence.
Wishing Reception class a very Happy Easter! Make sure you enjoy this half term break, with your families and have lots of fun playing your favourite games and activities. We all miss you and look forward to seeing you soon, make sure you are listening to Mummies and Daddies! :)
Science week - Reception took part in a scientific workshop, working out who took the money by searching for clues and eliminating the suspects. In the end they worked out it was suspect Candy!
Our book focus this week has been Jack and the Beanstalk, so we are growing our own plants in reception. Fingers crossed we will see some shoots soon!
World book day costumes, you all look fantastic!
As part of our topic 'Let's Pretend', reception watched a puppet show and then made their own show using the puppets they made last week.
Wow! Your masks are amazing Reception Class.We are very impressed with the standard of half term homework and these are not even all of them!

This week we have been looking at dinosaurs. Reception were shocked to find a mysterious object in our playground! We also enjoyed making fossils.
Reception are looking at the story Handas Surprise. We had visitors from the story come into our classroom. The children also looked at where the fruit in the story came from and tried some new fruits.

This week we are looking at positional language and using the beebots to move around the maps.
Reception are looking at ways of keeping healthy, we tried a range of fruits and vegetables.
Reception are looking at changing different foods, we froze ice, toasted bread and mixed food colouring.
The children were so excited to move into their new classroom. They've settled in really well and are enjoying their new room!
Reception went to Tesco to buy ingredients to make jam sandwiches. We were hoping that the tiger might pop along from the book 'The tiger who came to tea'. What a pleasant surprise, he must have smelt the jam sandwiches!

Reception enjoyed creating Christmas crafts with their parents today. Thank you for coming into Reception Class!

December has arrived! The children are enjoying all the Christmas activities, leading up to the 25th!
Reception created the Gruffalo using their hand print and went on a walk in the Gruffalo's forest and met all the different creatures!
Reception have taken selfies and created Gruffalo characters using markup. Can you guess the characters that the children have created?
Reception are looking at which animals from the Gruffalo story are Shorter and Longer, we then used cubes to compare them.
Reception this week are sequencing the story 'The Gruffalo' and retelling it. The children are writing words and sentences to retell the story, fantastic job reception!
This week we are reading the story 'The Gruffalo', the children had a fantastic workshop where they met the GRUFFALO! Reception thoroughly enjoyed it and couldn't stop laughing.
Reception have been enjoying their new costumes! Big thank you to Luay's Mummy!
This week Reception have been looking at adding one more to a number. We have been using our bears to count on one more.
'Goldilocks and the Three Bears' - This week in IPC we have been looking at the story of Goldilocks and the three bears. The children have been role playing the story with their friends!
Judaism Week - This week we have been looking at the life of a Jewish child and what their day to day life is like. We tried on Jewish traditional clothing and made stars to show the Jewish symbol.
This week we prepared for our tea party by making patterned cookies, Jelly and popcorn. Reception enjoyed setting up the classroom and showing their families and friends around!
Reception had a visit from Brother David this week, he talked to the children about the month of Mary and prayed with them. Brother David also taught the children a song with his keyboard!
The children have been curious as to what is happening next to our classroom. Reception have been on our own construction site, building and fixing.
As part of 'Black History Month' our reading focus has been the story 'Jamelas Dress'. The children have been recreating African patterns using paint and printing different shapes on to them.
In RE we are thinking about 'Beginnings', in particular the beginnings of our families. We looked at where we are from and the different customs practiced within a country, reception really enjoyed taking part in the Indian dancing.
Reception this week have been looking and learning about worms, we found lots of different sized worms in our playground.
As part of our IPC topic 'Family and Friends' the children brought in photos of their families and discussed them with the rest of their peers.
