St Bernadette Reception

Welcome to the Reception Class page. My name is Miss Obilaso and working alongside me this year are Mrs Manesh and Mrs Monica. We look forward to working with your children and watching them grow in confidence.

Reception Class Timetable

Reception have been enjoying their new costumes! Big thank you to Luay's Mummy!

This week Reception have been looking at adding one more to a number. We have been using our bears to count on one more.

'Goldilocks and the Three Bears' - This week in IPC we have been looking at the story of Goldilocks and the three bears. The children have been role playing the story with their friends!

Judaism Week - This week we have been looking at the life of a Jewish child and what their day to day life is like. We tried on Jewish traditional clothing and made stars to show the Jewish symbol.

This week we prepared for our tea party by making patterned cookies, Jelly and popcorn. Reception enjoyed setting up the classroom and showing their families and friends around!

Reception had a visit from Brother David this week, he talked to the children about the month of Mary and prayed with them. Brother David also taught the children a song with his keyboard!

The children have been curious as to what is happening next to our classroom. Reception have been on our own construction site, building and fixing.

As part of 'Black History Month' our reading focus has been the story 'Jamelas Dress'. The children have been recreating African patterns using paint and printing different shapes on to them.

In RE we are thinking about 'Beginnings', in particular the beginnings of our families. We looked at where we are from and the different customs practiced within a country, reception really enjoyed taking part in the Indian dancing.

Reception this week have been looking and learning about worms, we found lots of different sized worms in our playground.

As part of our IPC topic 'Family and Friends' the children brought in photos of their families and discussed them with the rest of their peers.
