St Bernadette Reception

Reception really enjoyed looking and touching the animals! They were really brave and stroked all of the animals, including a tarantula!

We have been retelling the story of the Good Samaritan this week, through drama!

We are currently reading the story Mr Wolf’s Pancake and wrote a list for the ingredients we needed to make pancakes. We then made some delicious pancakes!

We released our butterflies into the playground. The children thoroughly enjoyed watching the caterpillars transition into butterflies and were very excited to let them fly away, but also sad to see them leave.

This week we have been looking at the faith Buddhism. The children looked at how Buddhists practice their faith and the similarities and difference between Christianity. We took part in a meditation activity and the children were really calm and focused.t

Our caterpillars are growing Reception!

The children have been learning about different cultures this week, we tried lots of different foods including; chappatti, saffron rice and Chin chin! Well done for dressing up in your lovely cultural clothes!

We went to Jamaica in the afternoon and had so much fun!

Reception have been retelling the ascension story!

Miss Ghari spoke to the children about Eid and how she celebrated it on Thursday. The children had lots of questions to ask!

This week we have been reading a story about a pirate and a mermaid, having a picnic on the beach. The children made their own sandwiches and had a picnic in the playground.

Reception have retold the resurrection story using play dough, making the tomb and Jesus.

The children were so excited to see green parrots in our tree. We couldn’t believe our eyes when we saw the eggs.

The Reception children loved the workshop about building a rocket! They made their own rockets and had a competition to see which one went the furthest!

Well Done for the fantastic entries!! You spent a lot of time and effort making your rockets, it will be very hard to pick a winner!

Reception have enjoyed making their Easter bonnet hats and are very excited about the Parade tomorrow!

Treasure hunt! The children had to guess the title of our story book by finding the clues in the playground. There were some brilliant suggestions, as to what the title of the book was called.

This week we have been looking at the story Room on the Broom. The children created their own witches potions!

How many different ways can we make 5 and 10?

Reception were looking at adding coloured water to cotton wool and tissue paper. They looked at the changes, after adding the water to the materials and had a go at mixing different colours together!

Reception enjoyed making a Forrest for the story ‘The Bear and the Piano’

Reception have settled back into the classroom and have been enjoying the activities and seeing their friends. Thank you parents for working hard with your children at home, it is very much appreciated!

Hello, St Bernadette we hope you had a fantastic Christmas holiday with your families. We are beginning our spring term online and work will be uploaded on a weekly basis, this will be on the class page. We encourage you to send pictures of your child partaking in the activities to as we would love to see your home learning and share this on our class page. Hope to see you all soon!

Reception tried different fruits, from the story Handa's Surprise! Passion fruit was an all round favourite!

The children have enjoyed trying out new hairstyles on one another!

As part of Black History Month (by authour Atinuke) we are focusing on the story 'Baby Goes to Market'. The children have been buying and selling fruit and veg at the market stall.

Reception made birthday cakes this week, looking at their birthday month and age!

We are creating pictures of our families using our handprints!

Homework - This is to be completed at home and not brought into the school, because of the COVID regulations we are trying to bring minimal things onto the school premises. Thank you.

Reception started gymnastics today! They did a brilliant job of showing different moves and holding them. Just a friendly reminder for parents the children are to bring their PE kits to school and change into them. This then helps them to become more independent, eventually changing independently. Thank you :)

RE Homework - Verbally discuss with your child what is baptism? 

Reception have settled in really well and have made lots of new friendships, over the past weeks. We have enjoyed exploring the indoor and outdoor area.
