An effective curriculum is one which provides appropriate support for teachers and others to develop pupils' learning – academically, socially, spiritually, emotionally and physically.
We believe that children’s learning should respect the past whilst preparing them for their future lives. The learning must respond to the pupil’s current and future personal needs, their future career needs and the needs of the varied communities and social groups in which they are likely to play a part.
The curriculum needs to be active in the sense that pupils must engage with their own learning. For children at Our Lady of Lourdes, this means learning which is relevant to the future must be placed in a context which is meaningful in their present lives.
