Children like to arrive at school on time ready for the start of the day.
Parents please help them to arrive punctually to avoid a 'late card'.
Term dates are always sent to all parents well in advance of the new school year
Alternatively check the Parents Section of this website.
Parents please do not take your children on holiday during term time as it definitely affects the learning potential of your child as well as their ability to settle. Also OFSTED will award our school a lower grading if attendance is not at least good. Poor attendance equals unsatisfactory grading and we all want our school to get recognised for the outstanding school that it is. When urgent requests for absence are made prior attendance is always taken into consideration.
Part time places are available through five morning sessions for those entitled to 15 hours funding.
The Nursery Building is self contained and separate to the main building. The Reception Class is adjacent to the Nursery Building and together these two classes comprise our Early Years Foundation Stage Phase.
The Nursery Class admits 30 pupils who will be three years old by 31st August. We have an outstanding Nursery Team which consists of a very experienced Nursery teacher and Nursery Nurse as well as a part time Teaching Assistant. Provision is known to be excellent and outdoor and indoor learning opportunities are available at all times.
We admit 30 pupils into our Reception Class. Entry is not automatic from Nursery due to our admission criteria(see admissions on Parent link). Children in Reception Class benefit from two outstanding teachers and a teaching assistant. We actively encourage students and parents to be a part of Reception Class as it is well known that small children benefit most in early development from interaction with a variety of adults as well as children. Our Lady of Lourdes Reception Class has a wet side (linoleum cover) and a dry side (carpeted). The wet side, or Blue Room, is used for all types of stimulating and exciting messy activities whilst the Rainbow Room, or dry side, is for more structured and quiet activities, such as reading and writing. Children also have acees at all times to quality learning in the outdoor environment.
Reception Class children remain in their own private playground area until late in the summer term when they begin to mix with the Infants from Years One and Two in the main Infant Playground. This prepares them effortlessly for the transition to Year One.
