Our school is an integral part of our Local Catholic Community which shares the Mission of the Church to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Each day we have a collective act of worship. We follow the Diocese’s recommended Scheme of Work which encompasses the Curriculum Directory. Children are asked to learn various prayers as part of their Religious Education and we expect parents to support us by encouraging prayer in the home. Parents are welcome to join us for assemblies, particularly class assemblies.
Class and whole School Masses are celebrated and all members of the school community are most welcome to participate in these celebrations.
Sex Education is incorporated into the general school curriculum through “A Journey in Love”, a scheme of work based on the Catholic Ethos that supports the holistic growth of children. A week a year is dedicated to Sex and Relationships Education (SRE) where children from Nursery to Year 6 learn about relationships linked to the Church’s teaching and their age.It is always approached with sensitivity.
Parents will be informed before specific sex education lessons are given and will have the opportunity to see any resources that may be used with the children prior to the lesson.
