At Our Lady of Lourdes we all believe that every child in our school should have an equal opportunity to reach their full potential. We still agree with the aims of the Every Child Matters agenda which is a conviction that every child in school has a right to be happy and healthy, enjoy and achieve, stay safe, make a positive contribution to school life and to learn about economic issues at their level in order to prepare them for the future in a difficult and competitive economic climate. We understand that every child needs to achieve top grades and a love of learning before they leave our school in order to prepare them well for continued success in high school.
Our curriculum is creative and looks to the future. It is rich and diverse and includes the International Primary Curriculum - a global curriculum which encourages our pupils to understand those issues of the wider world.
As well as a daily focus upon growth of moral values we teach English, Maths, R.E. Science, Design & Technology, Art, Music, P.E., Spanish , Geography, History and Personal, Health, Social Education and Citizenship. We aim to develop and extend a love of Creative Arts in our pupils through our own daily teaching and the buying in of additional professional workshops. Their experience of Art, Craft, Cookery, Drama, Dance, Computing and Music extends their creativity and enables a good all round education. Our school is blessed with a talented and active school choir. We are also currently working towards stronger participation in competitive inter league sports through teaching skills of football, basketball, netball, tennis, korf ball, cricket and rugby.
As you can see we aim only for the best and excellence is the only option.
We send out a termly curriculum letter and hold a curriculum meeting with parents at the beginning of the year to discuss our curriculum in more detail. Copies of the letters outlining the termly curriculum of each year group can be found on class pages.
